My son (9years) and I walked to the summit from ocean beach carpark via the Te Whara track and returned down the peach cove track.
This is a steep climb with very little respite the first 2/3s of the track is steep without stairs and last 1/3 has plenty of stairs. It took an hour to get to the top and we were working quite hard as we wanted to see the sunrise at 6am.
It took an hour to get back down the mountain with time to enjoy the rock formations and bird life.
The view from the top is cool, but you need to be bold if you want to enjoy 360 degree views and climb a rock that is off the track by 50m. I wasn’t feeling to risky as the drop off to the sea is basically a cliff.
