I was leading a wilderness trip for a camp I was working for canoeing Flagstaff Lake. Upon camping in the last campsite I posed the idea to sunrise hike Avery the following morning. I got all the kids up at 1 in the morning (all were willing participants) and we started hiking. I guess in the quiet excitement of the morning only half of us remembered to grab headlamps, or even had them in the first place, which made for some slow going. We ended up making it to the top with only minor scrapes and bruises, just in time for the sunrise.
