I climbed Bald Knob twice as part of an 18-mile, 5-peak trail run day. Glorious autumnal breezes, phenomenal views, and spectacular wildflower display. The route up the AT is pretty difficult with 2,000 feet of climbing. Luckily, I had fresh legs at the beginning. Contrary to its name, the mountain top is not bald. However, the next mountain (Cole Mountain) is and it provides stunning views. Bald Knob was lush from the rain and every color of bloom was feeding pollinators. The second route was from the other side as I entered the AT from the Old Hotel Trail. Steep climb, but not quite as long as the side from Highway 60.
