This little peak was harder to get to that what I was expecting. This time I went with my friend Scott to explore a route to the highpoint of Anuani Nui Ridge. We followed the Maunawili demo trail and turned off to an old trail leading to the power lines, and from there we followed the ridge line. We got clearing tools with us, so we started clearing the trail for an easier return. At one point we got to the bottom of this rock face where we decided to push further. It was raining a bit, so the rocks were pretty slippery and the wall in front of us was almost vertical. I went first and I climbed all the way to the top where I set up a webbing for Scott, so he could come up too. I looked at my topo map and realized this is still not the peak I am looking for. We continued for another 20 minutes, and after another steep ascent (no climbing needed), we arrived to the top of the ridge. Probably another 30 minutes and we could of reach the bottom of Windward Lanipo ridge.
On the way back Scott suggested that instead going back and climb down that sketchy rock face, let's follow a short ridge to the Maunawili Demo trail. We did that, and it was a much safer option.
All in all was a surprisingly fun little outing.
