"Good value this one. Chose a day which was pissing down to avoid the terrible heat. Waited for the worst of the storm to blow over and started from Yung Shue O on the well marked track which leads to Pak Tam. Two places where the path crosses the river were flooded. The first one looked impassible, water over the knee, but there was a water board bridge, iron ladder up a concrete wall then I had to dodge some spikes and I was back on the path. The next ford had stepping stones with the water flowing rapidly a few inches above them. It was fine but both feet thoroughly wet. However these sportiva shoes are excellent. They gripped well and I got no blisters. It was easy beyond this and walked for about 1.5 km along a steepening pass to a pass, at just over 200m where it met the MacLehose stage 3. I headed towards the Sai Sha Road for about 200m then turned left up a very steep trail to the summit. It gained 120 m in about 200m, thats 60% gradient, pretty steep. It was possibly a scrable and had to use my hands at times. Reached the summit easily and the clouds cleared for a view of High Island Reservoir but it soon cacked in again. Took just over 2 hours and felt pretty knackered. " — billsmith • Aug 19, 2022
