"5.14.24~ Mtn Springs, Hidden & Hollow Rock Peaks in that order. 11 miles, 2,800 in 5:14hrs
Very warm. Despite there being clouds around, I experienced mostly sun with no breezes. I Haven’t done Hidden Peak in 8 years. I saw the State Bird (Mountain Blue Bird) & Red tailed Hawk. I didn’t get attacked by hornets but a few ran into my head while on there way somewhere. Small jet like birds skim by close to me like little rockets. The trip to Hollow Rock was extremely warm at the 2pm ish time of day. I started to suffer but I had a bottle stashed there to dump on my head and that was nice for a strong finish. I drank 70 oz of water, a small Gatorade, ate an applesauce packet and homemade breakfast burrito on a lavash wrap. For Breakfast I had 8oz of fairlife choc milk (15g protein), one 12 oz shamrock strawberry protien milk (30g protein) and a packet of emergenC with lots of water. Fun outing. Good heat and endurance training. " — paula.raimondi • May 14, 2024
"5.6.24~Mtn Springs Peak & Hollow Rock again. 7.7 miles. Out of boredom, I went up a different way on a dirt road next to tower road. It was a consistent grade leading to the main ridge trail, unlike the regular way. I finished Hollow Rock and jogged back to car on mtn bike trails down below. It was cool and windy. "5.2.24~9.7 miles, 2,200’ gain in 4:11 hrs
The Triple Tiara of Mtn Springs. Mtn Springs Peak, Windy & Hollow Rock. In that order
The flowers! I was feeling lazy and didn’t even want to get out of the car but I just put one foot in front of the other and came up with this. Breezes made it tolerable and a late start gave me some much needed solitude. I dropped down early after Hollow Rock to some mtn bike trails which led me back to the car. "4.28.24~ Hollow Rock Peak quickie. 3 miles, 1,000’ gain in 1:25hr out & back from the Hwy. up in :44min. I still can’t access my peak logs on the web and can’t upload photo on either web or app. Keep getting an error " — paula.raimondi • Apr 28, 2024
"4.16.24~3.2 miles, 1,000’ gain in 1:34hr from hwy. Quick workout before work. Found the reg. this time. I forgot it was small. I didnt have to practice up and down this time. Was confident at the memorization. had less butterflies in stomach on top but not enough less to enjoy a snack. Next time. Pretty day. It’s getting warm. " — paula.raimondi • Apr 16, 2024
"4.11.24~3.4 miles, 1,000’ gain, 1:53hr. This weather! I took the abbreviated approach from the hwy. I didn’t see a register this time. I did a few up and down repeats to memorized steps before going to the top since there is no rope. Always feels creepy. " — paula.raimondi • Apr 11, 2024
"9.16.23~ A Toasty 🔥 3 Peaks Combo Meal Well Done. Mtn Springs, Windy & Hollow Rock in that Order. This solo Started at 12:15pm~10 miles, 2,341’ gain in 4:28hrs. I didn’t fuss this time on Hollow Rock…went right up and down when I arrived. I haven’t done much endurance, just gym stuff, so I was happy I moved well all day and felt strong. Was nice to roam around. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 16, 2023
"9.15.23~5 ish miles, 1,300’ gain starting at noon. Temps were warm but nice with breezes.
I’m what you call a Brave Coward. Hollow Rock Peak #5 without aid up or down the rock but not because I wanted it that way. I didn’t find a reg atop, only a first aid kit. It Took 1.5 hours at the base to decide to do it. The fixed rope was gone but I was glad about that…The top anchor was also removed and I wasn’t happy about that since knowing it’s there usually gives me comfort when climbing up. I only brought a small strap of webbing so I decided just to down climb without using it since it is a short climb with great holds …but I was scared. This is an easy climb, I just overthink everything at times…mostly everyone else wouldn’t have this much to say about this cute little Hollow Rock. Rock on. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 15, 2023
"What an awesome outing .Some very fun sandstone scrambling. It would be tragic to follow someone else’s line up here. Just come out here and let the sandstone tell you where to go. Hollow rock had a fixed line on the summit block that could be avoided if one wanted. " — joshortman • Nov 28, 2022
"8.28.2021~3.2 miles RT, 1,000’ gain. My 1st time free climbing up Hollow Rock Peak! I used my webbing for the descent and to help a few menz that happened upon my day. Jimmy climbed up too. I went up and down about 5 times to demo for the menz, video and to unsnag and retrieve my cordage. Leave no trace! My altra timps are nice and sticky for the approach & for the sandstone! Great shoe! We came here today to “re-sharpen my sword” for some mountaineering projects I have. Running all the time makes me dull. Felt great to be on the warm sandstone again!
