"Early morning hike crisp 40 degree weather with fair skies and no wind. Took the stair master route from the visitors center and did not enjoy it. Went down Mt. House trail to the loop trail. 1.9 miles with 55 minutes of moving time. " — GreggC • May 11, 2024
"Warmest day of the year so far, not a cloud in the sky. Very muddy and buggy, particularly near the trailhead and the flat section of Semuhenna Trail. Began around 12:45pm. Passed by Balance Rock on the intersection with Old Indian Trail. Took Semuhenna Trail which levels out for about a mile before intersecting with Harrington Trail which is very steep, rising about 250 feet in a tenth of a mile. On the way I stopped at Josti's Vista which offers great views to the southwest. Once I crossed Up Summit Rd. the trail leveled off as I approached the summit. Although you can't go up the fire tower at the summit, the platform underneath still offers 360-degree views and images to help you identify the mountains on the horizon. I crossed 4 ski trails on the way down Old Indian Trail. Returned to the car around 3:15pm." — JCalautti • May 7, 2024
"Started at the Harold Parker SF HQ. About 2.8 miles of hiking. Trails were mostly dry but rather rough and rocky. Easy overall hike. Nice views of Salem pond along the way out and back. " — GreggC • May 5, 2024
"Short afternoon hike that we had to speed up once a thunderstorm blew through and we started getting rained on. The eastern half of the loop at the summit is the remnants of a retaining wall that held the Woburn Reservoir, but the water line is now much lower and you can walk down to the edge. Also on the summit is an "Indian Bowl" formed by glacial activity that's worth checking out." — JCalautti • May 2, 2024
"Early morning hike. Crisp and bugless. They way I like it. Did Hubbard and Punkatasset together. Lots of wildlife. Pretty time to be in the woods. Hubbard is an easy hike that offers no views at the top. Trails were in good shape. " — GreggC • May 2, 2024
