"Last day of a short break at Coniston, we walked to some of the lower hills at the south end of the Lake District. From the south end of Coniston Lake, we walked up to Beacon Tarn, then up onto a triangle of hills, the first one being Beacon Fell, where we had good views over the southern end of the Lake District. From here we dropped down N, then W over a series of low hills to Yew Bank. An unremarkable summit, with no tracks. We then dropped SE and over a susidiary ridge before ascending on to Wool Knott. Then back down to Beacon Tarn where we retraced our inward route. We had good views most of the day." — davidlong • Jul 3, 2013
