"While passing through Cajon Junction, it was time to revisit Wye Benchmark. Since I knew where the proper trail was this time around, I began walking north on Santa Fe Rd (which is the forest road running parallel to I-15). In about a quarter mile, the road splits to the right. Just past the split, a ridge trail intersects the road. Once on the trail, it bends around and goes all the way to the peak." — MikeTeeples • Jun 10, 2023
"I literally passed this peak about 100 times when traveling north or when going to Angeles Crest Highway to hike. It is positioned right at the exit to access Angeles Crest Highway, so I can’t help but to look at it. This time I would do more though, because this would be the day it gets climbed.
After checking off many peaks in the Cajon Pass over the years, this was one of the few remaining. I didn’t know if a trail lead to the top, so I climbed the peak the old fashioned way, I free climbed it. It is a steep cone shaped slope, but I would not be denied. There is an American flag, a lawn chair, a register, and two benchmarks on top.
From the top, I could clearly make out the proper trail. It leaves the summit going northwest and follows ridge lines in the nearby badlands before ending on the forest road that runs parallel to Interstate 15. From there, I closed the loop back to where I began." — MikeTeeples • Apr 26, 2020
