"Very cloudy day, it rained most of the drive up but stopped about a half hour before we began hiking. When we turned into the Ferncroft Lot we noticed every peak except Mt. Wonalancet was enveloped in a cloud. We set off from the trailhead around 10:15am. Although not too warm, it was extremely humid and buggy. The trail was damp but not muddy, although that made all of the rocks extremely slippery which did result in a minor knee injury. Old Mast Road rises gently from the forest floor, offering a cool transition from the vibrant leafy greens of the younger trees to the dark rocky environment further up. Walden Trail shoots up immediately after the turnoff, rising nearly 800 feet to the summit. There are a few scrambles, made all the more difficult by the wet rocks. Many of the trail markers are faded but, when in doubt, bear left. At the top of one rock scramble there is a small viewpoint which offers a view of neighboring Mt. Paugus. Eventually the trail levels out and we unceremoniously passed over the summit of Wonalancet Hedgehog. Before continuing, we went down a spur trail which opens up into an expansive view south towards the Ossippee Mountains (although they were in clou..." — JCalautti • May 19, 2024
"I didn't have to work today because of the Covid pandemic cancelling our annual event. So I took advantage of it with a hike. We hiked up Whiteface, then Passaconaway, then over to another peak which this site claims is Hibbard. Then out via the Kelley Tr." — newenglandwarrior • Jul 4, 2020

"Hiked Blueberry ledge trail to Whiteface, then over Rollins trail to Passaconaway. From Passaconaway hiked Walden trail down to hit Mt. Hibbard, then the Wonalancet trail back to parking lot." — blackwolf_03278 • Sep 24, 2017

"Awesome day as always! Crusty snow, trail should be pretty good now that we went in and out the same way packing it down. The trees are taking over the summit of Hibbard, not the view I was expecting, but still an amazing day, even if we have electronic device issues throughout the day. :)" — Remy1 • Dec 20, 2016

"oh what a day.....
a balmy 6 degrees (yet sunny with no wind so I am not really complaining)...
I plowed the trail and it was seriously hard work....up wonalancet first and then over to hibbard. Originally planned to hit square ledge too but the leg work was a bit too much today (and the lost phone and time spent trying to find it in the snow)." — shay-shay • Dec 20, 2016

"Kali and I went up Mt Whiteface and Mt Passaconaway via Blueberry Ledges, Rollins and Walden Trails, hitting Mt Hibbard and Mt Wonalancet on the way down. It was a warm day, but luckily dry and not too scorching. Kali went in the brook every time we were near it, and she really missed it once we were above it. Met some great people on the trail and made a couple of new friends. Long and tiring, but gorgeous views on the ledges and lookouts. I finally joined Kali in the brook at the bottom." — Hufflepuff • Aug 27, 2016
"Sunny with bright blue skies. A little cold NW wind on occasion. Needed micro spikes to navigate Walden.
The views were not impressive and wonder why its on the 52 with a view list. Bagged Wonalancet on the way down." — Alohabuffy • Dec 20, 2015
