"Did the three-peak traverse with Feli, commencing with Window. We opted to get the bushwhack out of the way and come back on the trail. A bit of annoying undergrowth in some areas, then tons of steep, loose scree, but nothing difficult to get to the window. Took the slab climber's left, which was good albeit a bit sketchy, then got onto the exposed summit ridge to the top. From there we continued on to Unnamed, Allison and Ward. Some good and fun hands-on, some crappy choss side-hilling and a few adrenaline downclimbs or loose bypasses to get to the col at the base of Ward. Up to Ward, then down the good scree to the trail and out by the good trail from Window Lake! A great day with a bit of light hail.rain. " — leigh-annewebster • Jul 10, 2019
"From Allison/Ward ridge. This is the descent that Kane recommends against. The scrambling isn't too rough, but the terrain has a bunch of loose rock, and rubble on slab. We took our time.
It seems like this route is becoming popular in reverse. I can see this ridge making more sense as an uplcimb, as pebbly slab is less of an issue when you aren't already moving your body mass downhill. Our downclimb will be okay for confident peakbaggers with experience in the rotten rockies, but it isn't ideal.
Our descent was via the normal Window ascent route. There isn't much to this route, just a scree ramp, followed by a scree bowl.
The bowl was full of snow. We got down fast with a glissade. I wasn't expecting so much snow, so I left the ice axe at home. It would have been nice to have, but the run out was pretty safe.
Exited via an ATV trail to Allison Creek road. The trail joined the road less than 1000 meters from our car.
Good day. Great weekend.
Another new one for Liz. " — mike_rogers81 • Jul 1, 2019
"As part of the Window/Allison/Ward traverse.
On the first summit approach to Window there was rockfall from Damian onto Oscar who had an arm gash. Damian, Oscar, and Gerry decided to head to emergency to get it fixed up. The other four of us completed the 3 peak loop with MikeW suggesting a "short-cut" off Ward back to cars that might have looked good on Google Earth but was a heinous bushwack with slash more than head height and a final dump out of the bush onto the road!
Scramblers (4 to complete): MikeW, Taras, Bert, Alex (Gerry, Oscar, Damian to hospital after rockfall)
