"Enjoyed a great bushwhack of Wilmington from the Bonnieview Lane side of the Cooper Kiln trail. Hiked in ~3.2 miles to the lean-to (~1700' of gain) and lets the pups enjoy the pond before starting the bushwhack. From here we stayed to the eastern side of the pond and started the fairly easy bushwhack up. The lower woods are fairly open and a herdpath can be found as you start to climb which is only interrupted by blowdown a few times. After ~300' of up and 0.3 miles we reached the subsummit (there is an open area with some nice views of Esther, Marble and Whiteface just before the subsummit) and then made our way across the ridge for another 0.3 miles and 100' of gain to the summit of Wilmington. Only a few spots of dense pines, the rest was easy going. " — deb-and-rob • Jun 11, 2016
