"Parked at Wildwood Cyn Park. The goal today was to run all the way to Verdugo Mountain, but I could only manage about a mile today (started walking at "Wildwood Canyon Hilltop").
The final section of the trail leading up to Wildwood with all the switchbacks is in pretty bad shape.
I wish I could give better directions, but at one point the trail splits. The path on the left (when going uphill) is dangerous. Some of the wooden supports have collapsed and trail has gotten steep and slippery. I remember seeing the damage years ago, but I guess it hasn't been repaired and has only gotten worse.
So try to take the right-fork. If you miss it and come to damaged part of the trail, just turn back, the other fork isn't that far. And definitely do the same when going downhill (keep to the left if the trail splits)." — oskar156 • May 23, 2026
"From Hostetter Fire Road, I climbed to the high peaks of the Verdugos. Robert Katz Peak first, then Verdugo Mountain, Verdugo East Peak, then Wildwood Peak. Returned on Hostetter Fire Road on the way back." — MikeTeeples • Jan 7, 2024
"Combined the visit here with Peak 2646. I had previously intended to make Mt Verdugo my turnaround point, but had run out of time. Wildwood Peak became my turnaround point after I spent a few minutes on top taking photos. Afterwards, I visited Peak 2646 and returned to La Tuna Canyon." — MikeTeeples • Mar 10, 2019
"Did it with a friend. This is the first hike I can actually remember doing.
It was definitely after I graduated high school, and definitely before the Eagle Rock hike, but I don't remember the exact date!" — oskar156 • Jul 1, 2014
