"I love this little peak. Went a different route this time. After leaving white owl canyon I stayed in the wash and decided to climb the steep old power line road instead of gaining the ridge earlier to avoid all the ups and downs. The wash did not disappoint as it was very beautiful with little obstacles to climb up and over. Descended down another service road and back down another canyon where I saw a great white owl. Beautiful day in the desert. " — maggielynn • Mar 26, 2023
"12.19.2020~White Owl Hill run w/Jimmy. 5.5 miles, 1,000’ gain. Up in :44 min, down in :36 min. We descended the rough back end (west end) of the hill and ran the wash back the way we came. " — paula.raimondi • Dec 19, 2020
"12.17.2020~3 Peaks, 10 miles, 2,400’ gain, 4:40hrs of bliss in the River Mtns on the Lake Mead side. Owl Hill, Bighorn Butte (aka Long View Peak) and the Spectacular Saddle Island Summit with grand views of the water. I used the White Owl Canyon loop (CCW) via 33 hole lot Trailhead, to access the 1st 2 peaks. It’s the best kept secret in the LMNRA....I drove to Boulder Harbor to do Saddle Island Peak. I was graced by a herd of 6 muscular and majestic rams. It was breathtaking to see them gallop off in all their glory and majesty....a safari right in my own backyard. A gloomy and chilly morning eventually gave way to sun and warmth. I crossed paths with a giant hawk and curious ravens cruising and floating in the updraft. So much beauty in Southern Nevada. One lifetime isn’t even enough to see it all.

"This was a new one for me. I had heard about White Owl Canyon, but hadn't been through before. It is a short slot canyon with nesting owls. While we didn't see any live owls in the canyon, we saw a dead one, we heard babies in the nest and had a raven watching us. We also saw a small owl near the summit with recently hatched chicks. The canyon was neat, the views were great and this was a nice, short outing. I look forward to returning when it cools down." — Kevin • May 10, 2020
