Solo. After ascending Black Hill I descended to the vicinity of Cowdenknowes Mains Farmhouse and Steading. I followed the signed footpath to Georgefield as far as a gate at NT58283766. I went through the gate and across the fields to the summit of White Hill, using other gates on the way. I returned to Cowdenknowes the same way. This route avoids disturbing the folk at Cowdenknowes, A bright sunny day, dry but cold.
