"A NEHH gain for Molly. Cloudy day. Turns out the herd path starts about 50 feet beyond the large boulder and not before. After walking through the woods, we came across the herd path and made our way up to the talus field. Nothing to see today. Signal Ridge was covered in clouds. We reached the summit and signed in, then came back down. We stopped at an ice cream place in NoCo on the drive home for a Scoop and Loop gain. " — newenglandwarrior • Jul 1, 2023
"Saw in the trip reports that some people had gone up. I made the long road walk, then up to Carrigain Notch. Then I followed there tracks up to the summit. Left my snow shoes down below. The snow was firm. Felt great to get a bushwack peak done. #71 NEHH W" — newenglandwarrior • Jan 30, 2018
"Must have blocked this one from my memory when I did it in 2001. We had to park at 302 parking area since the road was gated. This added 2 miles to the hike in. We followed Signal Ridge Trail to the Carrigain Notch Trail. Then we followed this trail across a couple of easy stream crossings until we reached the large boulder. From there it was a bushwhack of around 2600' in .6 miles. We managed to pick up a bit of a herd path just below the rock slide and again followed this path after the slide until we reached the summit. Only 5 people had signed the register so far this year. We took a more direct route down and followed a drainage which seemed easier and came out on the Notch Trail about 350' north of the boulder. The black flies were extremely hungry this year and I finally had to use some Deets at the summit. My two companions were happy to cross this one off their list and I was foolish enough to go with them for my second trip. It probably is the most difficult bushwhack on the list and maybe all of New England." — StoneMan • Jul 7, 2012
