Highlights
- The Vihren is inferior to the highest bulgarian peak with only a modest 11 m, but this does not make it any less attractive for mountaineers. The peak used to be called Eltepe, which means "peak of storms", which is due to the fact that there the winds change sharply, almost for a split second.

"Wonderful summer weather, although a little bit on the warm side. First ascent to Vihren peak, and we decided, that the route through Djamdjiev rigde would be our way up. The route is considered somewhat dangerous, but if you are careful, it is the best route to the peak, with almost no other people on the way, and plenty of the rare edelweis flowers. Went down to Vihren hut through Kabata (awful path), with a little detour to visit Hvoynati peak." — Vladimorka • Jul 26, 2025
"The Vihren trail leading from the Bunderitsa Hut through Kazanite and Premkata. Descending through Kabata and Vihren Hut, snow is present on the trail only on the snowdrift above Kazan and the upper section the metal chain." — borisv • Jun 15, 2025
