"Bushwhacked up the NW slope of Pine Knob. I initially took the wrong trail but quickly found the right one that lead me to minor bushwhack to the summit. No snowpack just brown is quite unusual for Minnesota this time of the year. Just a few flurries and a light wind." — timothywittrock1 • Jan 4, 2024
"Hands down one of the most beautiful areas I've ever been to. However, I had to turn around shortly after starting to climb the mountain as it started to hail very heavily, causing the rocks and dirt to become dangerously slippery.
Be warned, if it rains, the trail turns into a small creek, and you will have very wet feet!" — Sidpatchy • Oct 5, 2023
"I planned an extra day to get to this one on my way to visit scattered family members. Wish I had more time to explore this area along the northern shore of Lake Superior. I didn't find the uphill section too difficult. It took me a while to figure out that the real summit was into the woods, after searching in vain for a marker near the viewpoint at the top. It was a long tedious hike back, but another state HP done!" — SteveM_StickMan • Jul 11, 2023
"I was a nice day with temps in the mid 50s with no wind and leafs changing colors. I bike all the way up to the summit because I built up enough speed before I started to go up the knob." — timothywittrock1 • Sep 18, 2020
"Steep technical 2 track to the top from strawberry mtn road. Pointed the Yamaha tw200 at the top put it in 1st and held on for dear life as the little donkey of a bike bounced and tractored over logs through ruts and up by far the steepest climb I have ever done on a bike. Honestly I was astonished it made it to the summit. My GPS said 1854 at the top the trail drops over the back side if your adventurous enough but I wasn't. The top is covered in thick trees so you cant really see anything. Anyway I half rode half skidded the tw down the trail and back out to the road. On foot this would be a peice of cake." — ross19907 • Jul 22, 2019
