"A friend and I trekked up from Minnesota to the land of the corn-fed Iowans. Our sole goal - was to try and reach the summit of Hawkeye point. 210 miles later, surrounded by empty fields. We made it! Despite being no more than 20ft above than any other surrounding hill, it's still a HP! It's amazing how at each HP, you can tell that you are above every other land mass in the surrounding vicinity - quite a spectacular feeling really.
Stay classy and keep climbing,

"Had to nab Iowa's high point! Adorable. It really is right next to someone's house. The landowners are incredibly generous for allowing access to the highpoint. #19 for me and #4 for Joe." — psychikingjes • May 19, 2019

"Went for this highpoint on Day 1 of RAGBRAI (Bike ride across Iowa) 2014. Me and my Cousin went off the course for the day at about mile 35. It was a 12 mile ride to the north from mile 35. We encountered about 4 miles of gravel roads near the high point. We reached it and too some photos. There were to local Iowans that told us if we went 1 mile to the east the road would be asphalt. This was helpful advice! After that we continued on biking to Spirit Lake, IA. Total of 87 miles biked for the day!
HP #21/50 for me---#1/50 for my Cousin!" — hollis83 • Jul 20, 2014

"As far as I can determine, Durr Hill is the 6th highest "named" summit point in Iowa. It is located on private property, but my son, Marshall, and I were able to obtain permission to make the ascent from the landowner who lives immediately to the west. Although this is just a hill, it was a fun steep, short ascent to a great view in all directions at the eastern edge of the Missouri River floodplain. The cliff drop off on the western edge of the summit ridgeline is significant, so any children should be watched very closely." — Stewy • Jul 13, 2011
"As far as I can determine, this is the 4th highest "named" highpoint in Iowa. The "summit" is not definite with a single high point, but my son, Marshall, and I were able to easily walk the length of the Granger Hill ridgeline and feel comfortable that we reached the highest spot sometime during our hike. My GPS showed an elevation over 1390 feet at the southeast end of the ridgeline, which is higher than the contour lines shown on topo maps of the area. Granger Hill is located on private property, but there were no posted signs in 2011. We were unable to contact the landowner for permission, so we just jumped the fence and made a quick ascent with no problems. There were few views from the "summit" due to forest vegetation. We felt uncomfortable crossing the land without permission, especially as we walked through a field covered with hundreds of wild marijuana plants!" — Stewy • Jul 13, 2011
