I summited Townsend after doing Emory Peak. I took the Juniper Canyon trail up to a partial clearing, then headed up the mountain side through thick vegetation. There was an old fence closer to the top that I basically followed to the highest point. Then I crossed over the fence and found the summit, where a little rock cairn with a summit log stuffed in a baby food jar told me I was there.
