"Quick ride over to the (open) gate from Santa Rosa. Straightforward 500 feet of cross-country up a gully and onto the ridge up to the west summit of Toro Peak. Enjoyed the swirling clouds climbing the north side of the ridge from the summit." — edg • Jul 24, 2022

"The soles of my boots were shredded after Rabbit/Villager, so I sent them off to be resoled. I needed some "easy" peaks to do while I waited for them, so I thought I'd do some drive-ups and simple hikes. Toro was the first peak of a three-peak day, followed by Santa Rosa and Lookout. My Honda Accord managed the rough roads--just barely--to the first two peaks. For Toro, I assumed that it was just a short hike to the summit, so I left my trekking poles in the car. Short, yes, but also very steep, and I wished that I had them. No matter...great views from here." — HikerMark • Feb 22, 2014

"Hiked to the west peak of Toro Peak, the HPS summit, since the antenna farm on the slightly higher east side is on Santa Rosa Indian Reservation land. Near the gate that blocks access to the road to the east peak, there is the remains of an old road, that you can reach and walk up towards a saddle between the west peak and the bump to the west. The road is overgrown and barely recognizable as a road. From the saddle you have to go x-country along the northwest ridge until you reach the top of the west peak." — srphilip • Oct 21, 2013
