Drove up from Vegas on Friday & set up camp at the end of Cove Canyon Road. Woke up at 3am on Saturday, packed up camp & got started at around 5am. This hike is STEEP!!! 4,000 feet of gain in 2 miles, just to gain the ridge! Once on the ridge, we followed the rolling hills south to the summit! 7 hours (yikes). From there, Amber started back & I traversed over to the Southeast Summit. It didn't take long, but it made me that much more tired for the way back. I caught Amber & we continued down at a good pace. Once we got to the start of the serious downhill section, things slowed down a LOT! It ended up taking us about 5 hours down. The last 2/3 mile down was absolute hell and took FOREVER. Can't say I'm looking forward to doing that again! lol.
