"This is the third year in a row that Joe and I have taken a trip up to Cedar City, Utah, to go "leaf peeping" - also known as looking for fall color. The aspens are usually pretty spectacular. Our first year we did it as a day trip (I think I put about 500 miles on Galahad, my Jeep, that day), last year we came up the evening before to stay in Cedar City and get an earlier start of it, and this year - well, this year we made a much longer vacation of it (3 nights in Cedar City). I had previously only done the Taylor Creek hike to the double arch, and hadn't even driven farther into the Kolob Canyons area. WOW! The fall color hasn't hit the area yet, but DANG. Still spectacular! Geology ROCKS! (^_^) So - we drove all the way to the end of the scenic drive, and Joe agreed to do the Timber Creek Overlook hike with me. I opened up the Peakery App and found out it was a summit! Wahoo! First day of the trip and I already got a new-to-me peak! :D Best present from the birthday guy, ever! "After a morning scramble up Angel’s Landing and an afternoon route-finding to the top of Lee Peak, we had a little gas in the tank left for one more summit- 6,369 ft Timber Creek Knoll. It’s a little hike to a big view, and the perfect way to end our day in Zion National Park." — wacbravo • Apr 5, 2019
