Cairngorm Club meet, supposedly to Lochnagar. Glen Muick was blocked by snow so we started at Invercauld Bridge. I went with some club members through Ballochbuie Forest (with permission) to the bridge below Falls of Garbh Allt. We went back to the track to the west of Feindallacher Burn. We ascended an ill defined ridge between Allt Lochan nan Eun and Allt a’ Choire Dhuibh to arrive at the top of the Stuic. We went south towards the summit of Carn a’ Choire Bhoidheach. Conditions were not good – deep snow and visibility near zero. Others wished to return so I agreed. We must have been very close to the top. There was new, soft snow at all levels, deep where it had drifted. It was misty most of the time but there were some very good views when it lifted. It was windy too.
