"We ascended the Raven from the Echo Bay turn off from Northshore Rd. We made this a loop hike to include The Paragon, The Phoenix, Peak 3667, Fire Junior, Fire Benchmark and Peak 2759....7 peaks. The route was pretty intuitive. After getting through a couple of the sections and looking back I could see that there may be better ways than the way we did. Parts of the descent route we took from Fire Benchmark could use some modification. There was way too much loose and steep terrain that I think some could be by-passed through alternate routes. Overall, I think this loop is well worth experiencing....especially the views. " — Heartattackbruce • Mar 5, 2023
"3.12.2022~The Raven, The Paragon, The Phoenix, 3,667’, Fire Junior, Fire Benchmark, 2,759’ & every lump in between, CW loop extravaganza. 8 miles, 4,000’ gain in 6:35hrs w/Erica & Kevin. Kevin invited me along and I couldn’t resist repeating this route. We tweaked it a little adding harder ascents and descents here and there along the way. Kevin added the registers. We modified my descent from Fire BM & took a ridge Down, to some points of interest, instead of the sloppy canyon I usually use. I always enjoy being in this rugged area of the Eastern Muddy Mtns. Good challenging hard work. Great day.

"2.28.2022~Farewell to February Foray~The Raven, 3,549’, The Phoenix, 3,667’, Fire Jr., Fire Benchmark (and every lump in between) CW Loop. 9 miles, 4,000’ gain in 6:52hrs in the Eastern Muddy Mountains, NV. Using Stav’s map of his ascent of The Raven ( thank you, www.stavislost.com , check it out for his amazing mountain trips) I drew a track of this loop in the hopes to do it with Kevin last Sat. I didn’t sleep well and cancelled, so today I thought to test it out. It went well. I made it a light/less risky version in some areas since I was alone but it still had tons of fun class 3 & such. I don’t know if this particular circuit has been done but I highly recommend. It’s rough country with grand views of the Valley of Fire and the Overton arm of Lake Mead. I trashed my new trail running shoes on the sharp volcanic terrain. Goodbye February, Welcome March.

"1.28.2021-~Solo, Eastern Muddy Mtns NV Longwell Ridges. 10 peak CCW Loop Traverse, Half Marathon quad massacre. 13.5 miles, 4,800’ gain, 7:53hrs. Bitter Spring Peak, 2,096’, 2,234’, Longwell Arch Peak, East Longwell Ridge South, East Longwell Ridge HP, The Raven, West Longwell Ridge HP, 2,865’ and West Longwell Peak 2,890’. 10 miles of this route is sustained Ridge Surfin. The Hardest part was getting from East LW HP to The Raven. I had to downclimb an exposed ledge system but the rock was grippy. With a 10:35 am start I was under the gun...Nighttime caught me on the final ridge but I found my way through the darkness. An exquisite Sunset was my reward at the 10th and final peak. An Epic Full Wolf Moonrise cheered my finish. Great day. One of the most difficult and satisfying Ridge Surfing I’ve ever done. Military war games were going on for a while. Helicopters equipped with guns skimmed the ridge I was on. I could see the whites of the pilots eyes. My Kia Soul made it on the rough jeep road but I wouldn’t put it through that again. I consumed one 100 cal gel, one Stroop waffle, a half of a Lara bar and 1.5 liters of water I had to eventually ration. The climbing was Class 1 to 4 ..." — paula.raimondi • Jan 28, 2021
"Up that Dam(n!) Canyon. I know people climb this from Northshore Road, but I took a neat route up the back. There is a dam for a sheep guzzler in the canyon. This is a tough, but really neat hike." — StudioHoodoo • Apr 11, 2015
