"Hiked up The Dome today in Vermont. Steady and moderate climb the whole way through a mostly open forest with oaks and ferns. The pictures of the coniferous areas are glazing the hike; It is bushy and shrubby up until the final 0.2 miles, where it enters a lush pine forest. It had a very pretty summit area, albeit with no views. The rocks at the summit are pure white, and are very cool. The trail was a little overgrown, but the only hard part to follow was the intersection with the logging roads 2/3 of the way. It was 5.4 miles and 1750 feet. Overall, it was fun to explore the remote summit, but the trail wasn't stunning and needed some mowing. Still a nice hike. Lastly, watch out for the dog ticks. There were 15 on my dog and me!" — elimihuta • Jun 14, 2025

"solo trip after root canal therapy--obviously not too difficult.
successfully summited unlike last attempt on 9/1, only one detour due to poor marking of trail
talked with young man from Saugerties whom I'd originally "stalked" thinking he was a deer or a porcupine!" — barbaratraver • Sep 28, 1988
