Very strenuous hike but pleasant for January. Almost no snow on trail and tee-shirt weather on top. Tried to summit last week, but spent so much time taking photos from lower outcroppings to the north west of the peak, that I never summited. At lower elevations of the trail, the views of Pikes Peak, Canon City and the Royal Gorge and Grand Canyon Hills are quite spectacular. The final third of the trail is buried in trees until the meadows on top of the Wet Mountains are reached. The views of the Wet Mountain Valley and the Sangres along the final stretch of the trail are stunning. Viewing the Sangres from atop the Wet Mountains never gets old - one of the most breathtaking views that I've seen in Colorado. Highly recommend this hike.
