Tank Mtn is in the Mesa Mountains, northeast of Aztec. This is gas/oil country so lots of roads, platforms and service vehicles in the area. Access to the mountain is off US-550, north of Aztec. Turn onto Road 2770, (blue sign) and stay on it as it heads east towards Hart Mtn then changes directions heading north. At a fork in the road (N36.9231, 107.8045) go left on a road that squirts along the eastside of Tank Mtn to a junction where you go left followed by another left shortly afterwards that gets you to a well platform on the northside of the mountain. From there, bushwhack up the mountain to the highpoint, marked with a cairn, benchmark and a summit log.
