"After an amazing black bear encounter below the south peak it was time to move along the ridge and follow the old footpaths to the middle peak which includes a long bushwhack. After the upper ridge opens up it begins to follow an obvious trail that leads down the backside of the mountain. It's on this trail you will find the infamous "Lily Pond". Lily pond is actually not that close to the middle peak but it's the most obvious trail. you cannot stay on the trail that leads to lily pond to get to the middle peak, you must find a series of old footpaths. Once on this much smaller path, it might actually be an ancient game run by the look...you will be able to get to summit which is the far north side. The Middle peak and north end are connected by this trail and some ribbons on tree's keep a more obvious path. Once on the middle peak you will get a smallvista on the East side which looks down onto Hammond Hallow." — mikezilla • Sep 19, 2012
"Second time to the middle peak, this time with ms. Deborah Callahan for my birthday. From the top you can follow an obscure path heading west that leads to an open vista area with a large stone outcrop which gives you views of Surry, NH and the higher hills on Walpole, Nh." — mikezilla • Jul 21, 2012
