"Started at Cecret Lake Trail and went up the lake than up to the top of Sugarloaf. Then went down Sugarloaf and up Devil's Castle . If you don't like exposure and some some pretty good scrambling than don't do Devil's Castle. There are a lot of cliffs with huge drops. Even with that said it is still really fun. We went over Devils Castle than went back down to the trailhead at Cecret Lake." — JasonFitz • Jul 15, 2021
"My first time above 11,000' and I was extremely happy with how I handled the elevation. I climbed up from the Wildcat Lift at Alta to Baldy before traversing across to Sugarloaf and down to Cecret Lake and back down. Incredible everything about this experience." — Right-On • Aug 21, 2019
"Albion basin to Cecret lake, climbers trail to saddle between Devil's Castle and Sugarloaf, up to Sugarloaf, down to Sugarloaf pass, up Mount Baldy, back to Sugarloaf pass, down under the Sugarloaf lift and out through Cecret Lake." — ridings82 • Aug 23, 2015
"Made it to the campground where the Cecret Lake Trail head is at about 5:20 AM, but had to look around for a while to find the trail head. Spotting things in the dark is not my strong suit. Finally got on the trail after wandering around for about 25 minutes. Only to be stopped by a moose on the trail about 30 yards ahead of me. Waited for about 30 minutes until he moved on. The hike to the lake was easy, but after that it was a lot of scrambling. I didn't want to go up to the saddle between Sugarloaf and Devil's Castle so I just scrambled up to the ridge on the Western side of the peak. Made the summit just after 7:30. Awesome hike!" — Apcook • Aug 15, 2015
"This was a solo hike and my first 11er in the Wasatch range. The hike started with 30 minutes waiting for the shuttle to go to the Cecret Lake trail head. Once the hike started it was a quick hike to the lake. I stopped for a quick breather then headed south to the trail that runs between Sugarloaf and Devils Castle. The hike up to the ridge was VERY steep but was short. The ridge hike was a fun bolder hop to the peak.
My plan was to go down the way I came but another hiker at the top persuaded me head down to the West towards Mt. Baldy. The trail looped around back to Cecret Lake. " — shaggs31 • Jul 20, 2013
"Summit Provides great views of the surrounding areas. Back when I hiked this there was no trail to the summit just a brief scramble up a scree slope. I have not been back for many years." — jouv236 • May 5, 2000
