Parked at Lopez Canyon Park, where I crossed the road and picked up Indian Canyon Road (an unsigned dirt road). The road directly leads to the lower slopes of Sugarloaf. I left the road on the western slope of Sugarloaf and took a steeply overgrown use trail to the summit. On top I found no summit marker or register. Views of the San Gabriel's to the north were appealing, but city views to the south were limited. On the way back, I took the east slope, which turned out to have a much better use trail on it (which tells me that I probably came up the wrong way). This was otherwise a rather easy summit. 1.5 miles with a 195 foot gain.
