"Beautiful day for a hike, temps in the 50s, sunshine and a breeze to keep the bugs off, Really enjoyed a big loop including both Quarry Mts, both Straightback Mts and Mt Major." — Alohabuffy • May 31, 2020

"Eastern Belknap look to finish up the Belknap 12s for two of our group - Fairhiker and Alison. Got a early enough start to be the only two cars in the Jesus Valley Road TH - quiet (just passed by a single runner) until the Quarry Trail. Fairly bug-free (surprising) until the summit of Rand- then the black flies swarmed and kept wanting our blood. We deviated from the trails with a shortcut through the woods from the col between Rand and Mack and the BRT near Anna. 7.7 mile loop on a sunny late May day followed by ice cream in Alton- a great time. "Hit the trailhead about 8 a.m. Still some parking in the lot. Quick going up Mount Major Traill (blue) to the Brook Trail (yellow). The North Straightback link (green) was narrow and far less travelled. The climb was pretty steep and there is one place just below the summit of North Straightback that I had to use hands to climb up the rock. This slab also had a nice view so enjoy it because there is only a sign and cairn at the N. Straightback summit, no views. After a short rest, I followed the Dave Robert's Quarry Trail (white) to the South peak of Straightback, There were a couple of nice views of Mt. Major and Sunset lake along the ridge trail. At the S. Straightback summit, I chose the Blue blazed Mt. Major trail to descend and picked up the yellow Brook trail for a nice jaunt back to the parking lot. This is an awesome trail if you want some solitude. I saw 5 people on Straightback mountain. Everyone takes the blue trail from the parking lot up Mt. Major." — rjnick • Jun 16, 2018

"Did the Belknap Range Traverse (alternate route) to hit 10 peaks and complete my Hike366 project. A really fun route! Left a car at the end of the hike and took an Uber to the starting trailhead. What an adventure." — beaucheminjess • May 10, 2018

"Great day out in the Eastern Belknap Range. Loop hike starting from the Mt Major trailhead and hitting the following peaks: Mt Major, Straightback Mountain South Peak, Mount Anna, Mount Mack, Mount Klem, Mount Rand, West Quarry Mountain, East Quarry Mountain, Straightback Mountain North Peak." — kpreston21 • Apr 28, 2018

"After a few weeks it was great to get out. Hiked to North peak from Mt. Major parking lot, using Brook trail to N Straightback link. From there Dogs and I took Dave Robert'so quarry trail to South peak." — blackwolf_03278 • Feb 19, 2017

"Cloudy skies all day for this hike. When we got to the summit we were hiking in the clouds across the ridge over to South Straightback and Mt. Major. It was still a cool experience. Trails were in great shape. The newly painted blazes were clear the whole way making even the foggiest sections easy to navigate." — HikeLikeMike • Aug 13, 2016

"One of 10 summits reached on my 12 mile loop hike across the interior peaks of the Belknap Mountain Range. Awesome day for a hike with beautiful weather and serenity abounded with not one human encounter the whole trip; which is usually a rare occurrence for me. " — DPGobleJR • Oct 20, 2013

"Beautiful but very windy day atop the N. Peak of Straightback Mt. Snow flurries were flying by with only a trace amount of snow but lots of ice. The quarry trail(white) was extremely icey and I had to go off the beaten path many times to go down and back from E. Quarry Mt." — DPGobleJR • Feb 4, 2013

"A surprise peak that was not on the map I had. That confused me for a bit as I thought I was somewhere I was not. I managed to stay on the right trail & continue to Straightback's other summit on the 11.7 mile trek over the Belknap Range." — VonSelmer • Jul 26, 2011
