Excellent day of Blackmount ridge wandering in crystal clear breezy conditions. Great views, beautiful unspoilt wild scenery. An anti-clockwise guidebook circuit plus some minor peaks. Made it back to Victoria Bridge car park exactly at sunset after a quick dip in a Clashgour stream soaking up the last suns rays. Driving home through a pitch black Glencoe a few head torches flickered high up of those who hadn’t made it back in time; the nights are drawing in now for long mountain days. NB Found out too late Clashgour farm discourages walkers using their vehicle access track from the farm down to where it meets the river; at the bottom are snotty signs pointing you on the longer riverside path while if descending (like me) there were no signs but two unleashed sheepdogs loped over to “say hello” (a grumpy barky old one baring it’s teeth like I was some sheep plus a friendly bouncy young dog).

"Cairngorm Club Bridge of Orchy meet. With Jonathan Bellarby. From Victoria Bridge along the track besides Linne nam Beathach to hut and north on a good path (not shown on map), which goes up the hillside to Stob a' Choire Odhair. Then Aonach Eagach, Stob Gabhar, Sròn nan Giubhas, Sron a' Ghearrain, Stob a' Bhruaich Leith and then via Meall Odhar to Meall nan Eun. Difficult descent down the SE face for return to Victoria Bridge. Misty from Aonach Eagach to Stob a' Bhruaich." — peter43 • Oct 6, 1984
"Cairngorm Club meet at Bridge of Orchy. With fellow club members. From Victoria Bridge. We walked along the track via Linne nam Beathach. Then up the true right side of Allt Toaig and on to the SE Ridge of Stob Ghabhar. At about NN235450 we stopped due to severe wind. Some returned but three of us continued after some hesitation, taking a line to SW of ridge (ie below ridge) following fence posts, to avoid being blown over the edge. Severe gusts forced one to stop in a crouched position. Hail and snow. The summit of Stob Gabhar was reached. The descent was via the outward route, conditions easing." — peter43 • Oct 10, 1981
