From Patterdale, up the north ridge of Birks, leaving the path to climb to the summit. Then on to St Sunday Crag, descending to Deepdale Hause and Grisedale Tarn. Descent down Grisedale back to the car. Sunny at first, but high cloud moving in later on a chilly ESE wind. No rain. With DB, RP and BC.
