"Great weather (upper 70’s and sunny) the entire weekend. We had the whole gang with us for our annual camping trip with friends from downstate. Couldn’t go up the tower as it was shut, but still had a nice picnic lunch at the summit. Picked up some trash we saw on the way down. Brought a baby bottle of champagne with us to the top to celebrate completing the challenge.

"Snow has melted, just small patches of snow, some mud, mostly at the beginning. Windy at the top. No real view unless you climb the fire tower. It will be a pretty hike when the greenery starts to bloom. Nice day for a hike." — sarahlaustrup • Mar 21, 2022
"Solo today with Black dog. Left the trailhead at 8:35. Summited at 9:12. Partly cloudy and very windy. Last time I was in this tower was 1975 when u could still drive a 4x4 to the summit. Trail is ice covered and wore micros up and down. Views were great from the open tower cabin. Returned at 10:10. Nice little hike that's close to home.

"We hiked this mountain beginning about 8:55 am and finished at 10:58 am with 33 min. at the summit. Trail was not difficult with an easy to moderate grade throughout. The steepest grade was at the beginning of the trail. The book said blue trail markers, but they are actually yellow. In the last section of the trail, we encountered wet conditions due to all of the recent rain. The 73-foot tower looked impressive from the ground and provided excellent views from the cab. The "open forest" setting was also interesting." — TJandMS • Jul 19, 2021
"Great day out on the trail with Matt Topgun Peacock after 5 weeks off from the high Peaks to finish the ADK Fire Tower Challenge in record style,, Three towers in one day!, Not much for views today with low clouds, Trails where snowless but wet and bits of muddy areas which made some of the rocks very slippery, so caution was taken. No bugs yet " — ramjet1963 • May 4, 2019
"Hiked with husband and 2 members of the Brockville Hiking Club. Lake George area. Great views and Great Fire Tower. Weather had cleared for this 3rd and final summit of the day." — suzannerunciman • May 4, 2019
"Hiked with Kim Stilson. First tower of the day. Close to home & a nice decent hike. The weather forecast was so incorrect and we wound up hiking in freezing rain with zero views at the top which was a shame. The firetower was awesomely tall and the recent renovations to the tower were nice. " — kellieirene • Dec 16, 2015
"Enjoyed a sunset hike alng the new trail. Roughly 1.2 miles each way with ~1000' of gain to the summit at 2009'. The 73' Firetower has been restored (missing a little chicken wire) and you can climb for a great view." — deb-and-rob • Sep 16, 2015
"Solo. Americorps is putting in a new trail to the tower, which I followed until where they were working and then followed their ribbons through the woods to the summit tower. Americorps is also rehabilitating the tower with all new wood on the staircases and landings. First two sets of stairs were not yet installed as they have not completed the work yet. Refreshing to see a new trail and tower restoration since this tower was slated for removal a couple years ago. " — LGH-Tom • Jun 5, 2015
"Recent snow ~12', 15 degrees, light wind, overcast. There are three ways to the summit - a sled trail, an old logging road trail and the way we went which was a combination of the old logging road to a bushwack to the tower, then down the sled trail for 200' to a bushwack for the rest of it. This was a tough bushwack due to the heavy snow (over a foot) and the significant amount of blow down in some areas and logging debris in others. The tower area is nice but the only views (in winter) are along various peek out spots during the hike. Should have been about 2.25 miles but we made it 2.5 and about 2 hours long with our route." — deb-and-rob • Jan 26, 2014
