"This MTB ride was started at 10 AM and was one of my favorites this year. I started out at a hidden trailhead at Avenue de Santiago and ascended the Weir Canyon Trail for 3 minutes and summited Springs Benchmark. It had great views and a benchmark. Then I went down the Weir Canyon Trail to the side of Canyon Rim Peak. Then I went down the trail which had great views and a hidden feature called the Butt Crack. After that a climb up and down the sides of ridges was in effect. Then I passed by the Devil’s Punchbowl and then went through a canyon with palm trees. After that I went up a steep hill and was done with the ride." — lc444 • Sep 4, 2023
"Easy short 2 mile loop from Hidden Canyon Trailhead. I took the longer way (the low road) around the side of the peak, went up a short use trail and hit the summit; there are good views of Walnut Canyon Reservoir, the San Gabriel Mountains, and the Santa Ana Mountains much closer at hand. I took the "high road" back and closed out the loop. This was my first short hike of the day- followed by Bauer Benchmark a few miles away in the El Modena Hills. Great cool weather, fun little hike! I originally intended to hit Peak 1257, as you will hear in my YouTube clips, but ended up one peak short, hence the title using Springs BM. I Began to think I was not on 1257 while on the summit, as the area looked different than the imagery I saw on Google Earth. It was confirmed 100 percent upon checking Google Earth that Springs BM was distinct from Peak 1257!" — brianpowell • Mar 6, 2022
