"This hill that closes one end of the Jandula Reservoir dam has good views of the reservoir. Spring is already present in this area of the Sierra de Andújar where the rains have turned the hills green and the grass is growing. We are in the place with the highest concentration of Iberian lynx in Spain and yesterday we were able to observe three wild specimens. Well-preserved areas of Mediterranean forest and pastures are its best habitat. We were also able to observe numerous birds of prey taking flight thanks to the thermal air currents." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 16, 2024
"I have traveled today to the lands of Don Quixote, specifically to the village of El Pardal in the Sierra de Segura, a quiet and non-touristy place from where a geological route starts up to these two peaks that allows you to see sinkholes, geological faults, terra rossa and also magnificent forests. The late rains have filled the understory with flowers and insects, and the lavenders and other aromatic plants are in full bloom. The highest area of Peña Bolomba was damaged by a fire but on the way to Pico del Guijón the forests
they are wonderful. Some flocks graze freely in the area and have already sheared the sheep that offer a different appearance than usual.E" — franciscobirruezo • Jul 2, 2023

"Intense route today with my son who came to see me in Riopar, a total of about 10 miles and 2300 unevenness from the Zapateros reservoir, a continuous climb up to Pico Almenarilla and from there along the ridge to Pico Almenara, the section of ridge of mile and a half is very rocky, hard to follow anything resembling a trail. However, the surprise is near the Almenara peak, the walls are very vertical and you have to climb with little margin of error, there are 350 feet of rock left and it is better not to look down. Hot day, at the top we shared anecdotes with other climbers. We have decided to descend through the Portillo de Manolo (mountain pass) descending (almost skiing on leaves) through a maple forest with slopes of almost 50 percent.
Truly mountain in its purest form, but only for people with mountain experience and in good physical shape." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 8, 2023
