"Loop hike out of Mount Beacon Park with the wife using trails and wood road. Followed by a stop at Industrial Arts for a pint and pick up a few 4-packs of brew we can’t get elsewhere." — Nimblefoot • Aug 13, 2022
"After a half day of work I headed down to Mt Beacon park to visit the summits of Scofield Ridge North and Scofield Ridge to close out the month of May. Since I was in the neighborhood I also tagged South and North Beacon. While I was at the DAR monument on North Beacon a generator kicked on for the tower right there. First time I had that experience. The temperature rose to nearly 80 with humidity and the bugs were out so it was a sweat fest with swatting. Could have used some nice breeze. Flowers on the blueberry bushes are out, looking forward to some free snacks next month." — Nimblefoot • May 12, 2022
"An afternoon jaunt up to North Beacon to visit the DAR(Daughters of American Revolution) monument then onto South Beacon to tag the fire tower before heading back down to Mount Beacon park. Breezy on top of South Beacon so I didn’t linger long nor did I climb the tower." — Nimblefoot • Apr 27, 2022
"Headed up to Mt Beacon Park to visit Lambs Hill West and Scofield Ridge North to close out the month of June. Added the other 5 peaks just for shitz and giggles and making a loop hike from RT 9D/Holland Ave. Snacked on the just ripening blueberries all the way around. Now that Covid has finally simmered down I’m back to picking up the numerous bits of trash left behind." — Nimblefoot • Jun 25, 2021
"Awesome Hike. 9.9 miles loop or North and South Beacon all the way out to Bald Hill and Lamps Hill. Great views. Gets windy on the ridge! Watch the ice if you go early in the day. " — jonl • Nov 19, 2020
"Another exceptionally warm & sunny Fall day that had me back in shorts and a T. Wanted to take a break from yard work so headed up to the Hudson Highlands to tag Scofield Ridge North for my Hudson Valley grid along with Bald Hill and Scofield Ridge to close out my 12th round of the Hudson Highlands Peak Challenge. Made it a nice loop of trails, dirt roads and some easy whacking to also include the two Lambs, South Beacon and North Beacon. The trails were nice and dry for the most part and the waterfall along Fishkill Ridge trail was running spectacularly. Since the COVID Congestion of most trailheads has begun to ease up considerably I was able to get a spot in the tiny lot at the end of Pocket road even with my casually late arrival of mid-morning." — Nimblefoot • Nov 5, 2020
"Ed and I had a beautiful spring day to visit South Beacon and Sugarloaf mountains at the end of November with a blue sky and temps in the mid 50's. Met at the large PA along 9D then headed right up Breakneck, fortunately all the scrambles were bone dry. Younger folks with lighter packs were blowing right by us we strolled along laden with winter-like packs. Yesterday I was in the Catskills dealing with wet snow and getting soaked then today I'm sweating from the heat and getting soaked. We cruised by the whack to the true summit of Breakneck, aiming for the tower on S. Beacon, so I can't count that bump. Casual lunch at the tower and time for Ed to take some video from the cab for his guiding website. Looped around to the Wilkinson trail which we took over to Sugarloaf mountain on our way back. We got to witness the result of a fire from earlier this year as we approached the summit and the iconic dead cedar tree. A section of the trail is closed for habitat rehabilitation so we had loop back around the mountain before dropping down to rt 9D. We definitely got spoiled with such a nice day.

"Quite the sweat fest of a hike with the high humidity and temperature. Fortunately the clouds covered the sun at times and there was breeze on the summits. A loop of the seven peaks from the Mount Beacon Park with no lollygagging. Not a lot of other hikers out and saw no one on the summits even though the parking lot was 3/4 full at 8:30am. Most folks were probably smarter than I and did a shorter hike in the morning only as the lot was almost empty at 1pm. On my way over to Bald Hill I witnessed two Pileated Woodpeckers being very chatty without doing any pecking on the trees they landed on, I assume it was some sort of territorial dispute, quite unique." — Nimblefoot • Jul 21, 2019
"Competed in the Breakneck Point Half Marathon. The course was rough and the weather not optimal. However, It was an amazing experience and I look forward to my next trail race." — Right-On • Apr 13, 2019
"A fine fall day with temps rising to the 60’s to hike in the Hudson Highlands. South Beacon is my third peak of the day before I head back down to the car. Visited North Beacon and Scofield Ridge earlier. The blue sky is now almost overcast occluding the sun and a good breeze has picked up so I decide to forgo ascending the fire tower.
