"The trail was wet and muddy and at some places a stream. An easy hike for the first couple of miles and then the trail turns straight up. Amazing views from the summit, with a stunning 360 view from up in the firetower. Couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise either." — Right-On • Jul 3, 2017

"Fairly long hike and steep at the end. 1st couple of miles is a walk in the park. A great overlook just before the tower, nice place to stop and grab a snack. Up by the tower there are no views unless you climb it." — hbotc • Aug 2, 2015
"Snow above 3000' was very soft. Decided after yesterday's hike and lack of deep snow that I wouldn't need snowshoes on anything under 4000'. I was wrong, wished that I had them today, still made the summit but It was a pain." — LGH-Tom • Apr 25, 2015

"Hiked with Chad Darling. A miserable, freezing, post holing BS day. Was pleased to have views at the ledge. Was disappointed that the firetower was badly damaged about halfway up and we couldn't climb the entire thing due to safety concerns. A completely exhausting day overall. Another firetower in the books for me though." — kellieirene • Jan 31, 2015

"The trail began just north of Indian Lake directly off of Rt 30 and started at a fairly easy pace. We soon realized that it was the calm before the storm! The path itself takes several steep elevation rises. It also crosses 3 stream beds and after that point consider yourself quite near to the part of your hike that will cost you the most energy. Most of the rest of the hike is made up of natural rock ladders at serious inclines. My fiance had this climb as his first hike and did really well :) I kept telling him, "It will be worth it once you get to the top". This was my first time on Snowy Mtn. and it was definatly worth it. My only gripe was that the hike log was OVERLY filled with no room whatsoever to sign in and the trail was poorly marked towards the middle and end. The top is forested but there are 4 main areas to enjoy views from. When you get to the top there is a clearing where Indian Lake is easily and majestically viewable (the cliffs you can see from the main photo of the mtn. on this site), another 2 cliff faces on the backside that have a sheer drop overlooking a beautiful, deep valley, and finally a firetower (which was actually fairly hard to find). The top was fa..." — gingervine • Jul 16, 2012
"Just as advertised. Really steep in the end. Pretty flat for the 1st 2.5 miles. Not much visiblility today. A fun hike though.
