After the easing of lockdown we booked a trip to the Lake District and were staying at YHA Grasmere. Despite the mix of weather (it rained most of the time) we decided a hike up the nearest Wainwright would be in order.
Silverhow proved the closest and the rain held off as we made a morning ascent from Grasmere toward the summit via Wordsworths house (which was closed).
The juniper trees were bearing fruit which we spotted on the way past but we were soon on the final slog up to the summit.
Views for miles and we paused for chocolate to take it all in before making our way down via an alternate route into the village for a much needed hot chocolate.
