"Great 4th of July hike. Went up the Brown's Point Trail to the Summit Trail then up to Signal Peak. Descended down and back up to Burger Peak and finished the hike down the Forsythe Canyon Trail to the car shuttle we set up. " — acekelly • Jul 4, 2022
"Finally! Third time was the charm for Signal Peak (and we grabbed Burger Peak while we were right by it, too!). Having been thwarted on the Oak Grove campground trail twice - once by fire danger closure, once by excess amounts of snow on the plateau - we decided to give the Forsyth Creek Trail from Pine Valley a try. Sure, I'll agree: it doesn't have the stunning views of Zion that the Oak Grove trail has. It's certainly longer. But it's shaded, which is nice for the time of year we did this; there's plenty of water for most of the hike, so if you need extra, you can filter it (and boy did we ever need more water on the way back...!), and oh my goodness the wildflowers. So many wildflowers, ripe red raspberries, and just beautiful plants and trees. A good quality trail up to the plateau; from there, it's choose your own adventure to get to Signal and Burger peaks. We elected to contour our way up the side of Signal Peak to try to lose as little elevation as possible, and then did a similar thing for Burger. Signal's high point was a bit difficult to find, but Burger's was quite obvious. A long day (as I'm out of hiking shape and I was sick!), but a good day. Glad to finally get #17..." — psychikingjes • Aug 15, 2019
"A gorgeous day. We started from the Oak Grove Campground and ascended the Oak Grove Trail. No snow at all... until we crested the ridgeline and ended up on the plateau. From there, the snow depth ranged from 8" up to drifts of 4'-6'. I only had yaktrax with me; Ken had microspikes, but this was our first hike at elevation this season. So - no summit for us. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the "meadows" (snow-filled), then headed back to the ridgeline and then started our descent. We went slowly on the way back down, as we were no longer in a rush, and it is a VERY steep trail. We'll be back another time to summit. The views were breathtaking, and all in all it was a very good day. Just not a summit day." — psychikingjes • Jun 27, 2019
"Took Forsyth trail from Pine Valley. Beautiful trail through the pines and aspens. This trail is probably 90% in the shade. We also bagged Burger Peak on the way down. It was really long considering this was only my second hike of the season." — Hilljr • Sep 28, 2018
"Oh my god...so, the plan was to leave Vegas on Friday afternoon to head towards Toroweap, on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We got the wild idea to see if we could bag Signal Peak on the way up if we get there early enough on Friday. Well, we got to the trailhead at 930pm. Instead of doing the smart thing & either camping out, or continuing on our long drive to Toroweap, we decided to just do it. Since we could see the mountain was clear of snow as we were driving up, we were spared the extra weight of snowshoes, poles, heavy gloves, gaiters, etc. We started hiking at a good pace in the dark, with our headlamps. About an hour or so into our hike, I heard a voice, but it wasn't one of ours. It turns out there were 4-5 people camping out...ON THE TRAIL. I think we startled them. ;) We passed them up & continued on our way up the Oak Grove Trail. Once we got to the top of the trail, we realized we were in trouble. The other side of the ridge (where the trail continues to) was covered in a good layer of knee-deep snow. Crap. We pushed on, post-holing our way to the intersection of the Summit Trail, then finally up the steep slope to the peak. At one point, we were fol..." — Kevin • May 10, 2013
