"Intense day in the Sierra de María, my son and his girlfriend are with me today, the day is sunny and with spring temperatures, halfway we meet a couple of mountaineers who give up going up, perhaps because they were trying to climb off the trail, we We follow the main route from the forest house. On the summit plain at about 6,000 feet, very strong gusts of wind blow and the thermal sensation is cold. We see the Sierra Nevada more than a hundred miles away and all the surrounding mountains. We meet a couple at the top and chat for a bit. Afterwards we protect ourselves a bit from the blizzard and take the opportunity to have lunch while some vultures hover over us. We went down the path of the Botanical Garden that occupies a drop of more than a thousand feet and that from time to time offers signs with the names of the most interesting plant species, it is a magnificent place." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 11, 2023
"We go to the village of María after the Gloria storm left significant amounts of snow. Near the hermitage many families enjoy sliding on their sleds down the slope. We begin the ascent from the botanical garden and cross the forest, a little higher up there is no one left and we follow in the footsteps of someone who got up early than us. The sound of our footsteps and the wind is the only thing we hear. We are alone but we decided to make a snowman to accompany us for a while while we eat with beautiful views." — franciscobirruezo • Jan 25, 2020
"This wild mountain begins to fall in love. It's colder than in February 2016, but Elvira is with me. However near the summit she begins to speak strangely and after the photo does not delay the descent." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 22, 2017
"Go to Maria Village (Almeria Province), take a little road to Botanic Garden near a hermitage. Behind the Botanic start a path leading to a mountain pass on the North side. From here on the right is the geodesic (45 minutes more)
