"Devil hall trail followed the wash. First left looked good until hitting a 20 foot climb up. Made a way around with heavy bushwacking to the top. Came back off the North side of the ridge. Better trail conditions but added a mile to the wash part of the trip. Beautiful day in the Guadalupes." — walterczekaj • Oct 4, 2020
"My brother drove in from AZ and we summited Shumard together. We took the Guadalupe Peak trail past the bridge and up a few more switch backs before we went off trail on the north side of Guad. peak. We worked our way around the slopes, down a ravine, then stayed just below the ridge before the final approach up to the summit. The cloud waterfall we witnessed was awesome, as were the views from the summit. We took one of the east ridges down to the canyon. We had to skirt three cliffs in the wash as we hiked down, the last one being about a twenty foot drop. Thankfully the embankments weren't too steep to negotiate. We made it back to the Devil's Hall trail and enjoyed the hike back. The round trip was around 7 hours." — ZachTeich • Nov 25, 2016
