"A onesie on a spring-like day with temps going from 48* to 54* with plenty of sun begging for sunglasses and sun hat. The snow is slowly melting out so the snowshoes and micros stayed in the car. A group of four women and two individual men were also out enjoying the fine day. Great day to break out the shorts again but I foolishly missed the chance." — Nimblefoot • Feb 11, 2022
"A quick out and back hike from Rt 301 using the new parking lot on the south side of the road. I managed to get the hike in between morning and afternoon showers and managed to stay dry. Passed three women backpacking a section of the AT nobo in “old school style” with large packs and wearing rain gear. Later on the short hike I was passed by three separate individuals backpacking sobo in “new school style” with dinky packs, no rain gear worn and conversing with a friend via ear buds. Everyone doing their own thing…nice!" — Nimblefoot • Oct 4, 2021
"Had to get out to take advantage of the freaky November weather of sunshine and temps in the 60’s to 70’s. Quick stroll on the AT from Canopus lake out to the summit, witnessed the three bench marks, then on my return dropped down to the closed ski center to cross RT 301 and take ski trails and roads back to the car. Bopped up to the Dutchess rail trail to take the roadie for a spin without wearing knee/arm warmers and wind gear typical of November cycling." — Nimblefoot • Nov 9, 2020
"Up to Fahnestock to take the AT up to the American flag and bench mark on the top of Shenandoah. Had the trail to myself on the way in then on my way out numerous groups of friends or families were heading in and many of them not fully knowing where they are headed. Some were carrying coolers and beach gear taking the long and hard way to the closed beach on Canopus Lake I guess(?). On my way down Rt 9, still in Putnam Co., I popped onto Indian Brook road to take a short stroll up to Moneyhole mountain just for sh*ts and giggles. A beautiful day hotting up nicely with full sunshine." — Nimblefoot • May 30, 2020
"An out and back on the AT from Rt 301. Quite a few others out enjoying the fine weather, taking a break from being cooped up in the house. We all managed to do the six foot safety dance and say Hi while passing on an often narrow trail. On my way home took a quick hike up Sugarloaf Hill to fill my afternoon. Never seen so many cars, the small lot in the Castle Rock area was overflowing, but luckily I didn’t see most of the folks." — Nimblefoot • Apr 6, 2020
"My wife and I did a late morning casual hike of Shenandoah mountain for her to get out and stretch her legs. Some late summer heat and humidity came back on the last day of summer treating us to a rather warm hike. Canopus lake looked so inviting for a quick dip but we passed in order to hit a BBQ joint, for early dinner, and some grocery shopping before heading home." — Nimblefoot • Sep 21, 2019
"Nearly hit a deer driving down the Taconic Parkway enroute to the trailhead.
Met one AT through hiker, saw another man with no gear, checking out the signs. There was no car or other vehicle nearby, rather puzzling.
Nice weather and views." — barbaratraver • Sep 10, 2014
"Out hiking the AT from rt 301 with the wife. Humid and a little buggy but still a nice day for a hike. The humidity haze reduced our expansive from the summit. My office-working wife wilted a bit from the heat & humidity." — Nimblefoot • Jun 29, 2013
