"Black joined me this morning on a bluebird early spring day. 4" of powder on top of a good frozen trench. Micros door to door. Left at 8:15 and summited at 9am. Nearly calm and mid 20s at the summit with blue skies! Returned to car at 9:40." — garyogden • Mar 27, 2023
"Hiked with John Murphy & Uncle Gernie.
Had a bit of a late start as Murphy overslept & they both had a long drive to get up to my house, I drove us all to the trailhead. I was worried that there wouldn’t be any available parking on a little peak on a weekend, but much to my surprise when we rolled into the parking area around 10am, we were the only car there!
The weather was temperate, in the high 20’s/low 30’s I would guess, and the snowpack was very deep- snowshoes required! The trail was already broken though, which was stellar.
We started out under grey skies and took our time talking and looking at the scenery, had a bit of an issue with a snowy downed pine tree on trail that nearly became a trap to walk over, but made it through ok.
The trail was well marked and easy uphills, no great mountaineering feat here, but a lovely climb. By the time we got to the top, the skies had blued up significantly. We traipsed past the true summit a little bit to get to the viewpoint, and it was so pretty! And EXTREMELY windy. We took some photos and then headed back toward the summit to hang out for a little bit, and met a couple with two beautiful German shepherds. Other than ..." — kellieirene • Dec 9, 2018
"After the Moriah Challenge, I drove over to Indian Lake to begin the 4321 challenge. Sawyer Mtn was the first hike of this challenge. Got to see a large family begin to head up, along with 2 baby strollers (the strollers only made it halfway). Nice directional view from the summit." — newenglandwarrior • Aug 23, 2018
"Went with a big group on a pretty hot and sunny day - nice views and decent short hike. If you're camping at Indian Lake and have done Snowy or do not care to try, this is good option. " — Gregrog • Jul 26, 2014
"A fun short hike up this well marked trail while we were trying to beat a rainstorm. Only about a 1 mile hike up with some nice trail areas and a small ledge to enjoy just past the summit." — deb-and-rob • Jul 24, 2014
"Frank, John Eric, Joan, and I enjoyed a rare climb together, though the women trailed the guys by a half hour each way. Johnny enjoyed seeing the Blue Mt. tower and the golf course with at least 3 golf carts far below." — barbaratraver • Oct 1, 1994
