"First I hiked to San Emigdio's ridge on FR 9N34, then bore left on dirt road to Brush Mountain (7,050'). I then retraced my steps along the dirt road back to 9N34, then followed 9N34 to a very faint use trail (VERY FAINT!) and took the last very short climb to the thickly forested summit at 7,495'. This is a beautiful hike, and while the elevation gain from bottom to top is 1,400', it is gradual and not strenuous. There are many Jeffrey Pines, White Firs, and especially Singleleaf Pinyon Pines enroute. Many Jeffrey Pines and Firs have perished due to ridiculous drought and bark beetles, but there are still lots of healthy trees. The Pinyon Pines are very healthy however, since they are much more drought tolerant. If you are looking for vast views on the summit, you will not find any due to the thick forest. However, I find the trees to be the view, since i am a tree fanatic. " — brianpowell • Oct 15, 2016
