"Trailrun up the Summit Trail to the Ridge Trail. Detoured up a crumbly cliff band to the true summit of San Bruno, a mess of fences, towers, and other off-limits stuff. Might rate it an easy class 3." — scott • Sep 14, 2024
"Wanted to hike the ridge as much as possible. First pulled off Bayshore Bayshore Blvd at the eastern end of the ridge, but the parking area was fenced off and signed "no stopping" and there were no obvious use trails. I drove a bit further and found a nice starting point in Firth Park in the City of Brisbane. Steep 500 ft up to the ridge, then a nice trail run to the summit. Had good views lower down on the ridge, then up into the fog. Accessing the true summit requires an 8 ft scramble up loose rock then hiking a brushy use trail." — klotito • Oct 17, 2021
"Peak #2 of the Turkey day trot to SF. Surprisingly nice hike with great views on a sunny Nov day. Was a bit confused on where the peak was (we scrambled up the side of the hill to the highest point, but with all the radio towers, didn't stay long). Gaia was showing the peak below the highest point. " — colleenmarie512 • Nov 26, 2020
"Headed out the door and walked to the trailhead on Hillside Dr. Took time to get pictures of the Golden Poppies and Yellow Wood Sorel that is in bloom. Several other species will be in bloom soon. Made my way to East San Bruno. Spent time watching ravens play in the wind then proceeded to San Bruno Mt.. Quick turn around, down the hill and home." — Mtstalker • Feb 21, 2020
"Point to point traverse of San Bruno Mountain on good trails. Got a quick BART train from Powell St to my start at South San Francisco Station. Accessed the hill by a little ‘dog walkers’ path slanting up steep grassy slopes from near the junction of Dolores Way and Hillside Boulevard. Soon joined a wide ridge trail up to the summit area which has various transmitters and a service road. To bag the actual summit a short scramble up then along the perimeter fence of the top installation was needed. The shortest way down goes off clockwise on the Summit Loop Trail, but I extended the day by going anti-clockwise to enjoy a pleasant easy scenic trail down into eucalyptus woods then gently up again. Whichever way, nb the northwest end of the summit road is a total no-go area due fencing, locked gates and dense scrub. Instead remain on the Summit Loop Trail keeping an eye out for where the west ridge descent path takes off (easily missed) to lead steeply down to Royce Way. Chester St and B St slope down to finish at Colma BART station.

"Parked at the end of Trinity Rd. Took the fire road to the Ridge Trail. Headed for the radio towers and the high point. Amazing views of Downtown San Francisco, Oakland, the cargo ships in the bay and the fog rolling in from the west. Easy hike with well marked trails. " — Mtstalker • Nov 6, 2019
"Quick hike with Anthony on a nearby peak while I'm in the Bay Area for the summer. Nice area, the signs mentioning poison oak scared me a little since I was wearing shorts, but so far all seems well. Clouds obscured some of the better parts of the view from the top; I have a feeling that's going to be a theme while I'm here." — robkleffner • Jun 2, 2019
"Soo hungover, time for a trailrun. Struggled up through the windy fog just trying to keep down the shots from Josh's bday the night before. Somehow ran to the end of the ridge and back and did the full loop. " — scott • Mar 14, 2010
"A local favorite of mine. There's the short summit loop, or the longer ridge trail. There's also another lesser known loop trail around the Brisbane area also.
