Forgot my own advice to use sunscreen on the trails in this area. Hike from parking lot to base of Sam Knob is easy. Trail to peak is steep with some big steps, and poles are helpful. Many views along the way due to lack of shade. Best fall color here was valley to the north. Lots of good fall color on the drive up through north Georgia and on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
