"September 8, 2024. Scramble route to summit. On ascending , short cut from Onion trail straight to summit, not standard route from the right, but from the left through big steps and the scree. On descending: straight down by waterfalls/ledges system , moderate in dry conditions, no glacier travel involved. "Did saint nick and olive from Bow Lake. The lake crossing was still hanging in there, but I doubt it will last much longer. There were a handful of collapsed bridges in the canyon for the morning, many more in the evening. We must have taken our skis off to cross the creek a dozen or more times.
Went up the bow glacier and swung around saint nick to get the olive/saint nick col. Skinned to saint nick's sub peak and bootpacked the rest. We were happy to have boot crampons and a mountaineering axe.
Incredible views!" — mike_rogers81 • May 15, 2021
"Had an alpine start from the parking lot of Bow Lake. Was at the hut in about 4 hours on snowshoes. Dropped our gear off at Bow Hut and then made our way up to the St. Nic / Olive col. Left some gear there and then headed for the summit of Olive. After bagging Olive we headed back to the col and bagged St. Nic." — dkmountainman • May 19, 2012
"Winter trip during brutal cold snap. Chris and I gained access to Peyto Glacier via Peyto lake. It was a brutal day. Strong winds, cold and blowing snow. We spent the night in the glacier research station. A small structure that kept us out of the wind. The next day was the same. We traveller in total whiteout to the Bow Hut. Map and cm past got us to the hut. It was minus 35 a tough ski. We had hoped to be at the Balfour Hut to attempt a summit climb. The next day was clear and colder. We decided to climb the nearby St.Nicolas and ski out down to Bow Lake. It was a great day. The ski and climb up St. Nick was great. The ski down was fast and beautiful." — andrewbrintnell1 • Feb 18, 1989
