"A late morning stroll with the wife from our condo in LG. Her first time on the little hill with a view of the housing sprawl. We closed the loop by visiting Hapa’s brewing for some liquids and solids(mostly liquids) then cruised through LG making one stop at the Specialized bike “gallery” showing off all the latest tech.

"I was able to leave the car behind and simply walk from the condo down to the Los Gatos Creek trail which I took out to Lexington Reservoir. Up the Jones trail to pickup the Manzanita trail and on up to open summit. After a quick photo of the bench mark I proceeded to red line all the other trails then completed the Jones trail down Novitiate Park. Red lined the Flume trail getting back to the Los Gatos Creek trail and taking it to its northern terminus making for a 20 mile day.
One small hill, with a nice view , and excessive amount miles in the bright sunshine earning me several beers from the refrig.

"Sort of a figure eight loop out of Los Gatos with some road walking to start and finish plus a short stretch on Alma Bridge road to get from St Josephs hill to the Limekiln trail. Red lined the Limekiln trail, tagged El Som and hiked another section of the Bay Area Ridge trail. On the Limekiln trail almost stepped a large salamander strolling across the trail very slowly, much bigger than the ones back on the east coast. Higher up I watched two ruby chested hummingbirds flitting from tree to tree, nice break from the steady hill climb. Closer to El Som played peek-a-boo with a deer with a small rack who didn’t want me to get close enough to get a good look. On my way back from El Som, on the ridge trail, I observed a large Cat strolling up the trail. At first I thought it was someone’s dog but once it heard me it took off much like a cat then darted into the brush constantly keeping an eye on me. I’m assuming it was a mountain lion - one of the benefits of hiking solo and quietly." — Nimblefoot • Dec 28, 2022
"Started out just outside of downtown Los Gatos and hopped onto the LG Creek trail for an easy cruise out to the reservoir. Short road walk to the Limekiln trailhead with numerous trucks motoring by loaded with gravel. Up to the Bay Ridge trail where I had to make the decision to head back to Alma Bridge road, over Priest Rock, as I was short on time. Back to the reservoir I hopped onto the Jones trail then did quick ascent to the view from St Josephs Hill before dropping down to the Flume trail and onto the creek trail. Next time I’ll be more civilized and stop in for a latte and pastry first." — Nimblefoot • Dec 20, 2022
